Know Your Way Services

If you’re making plans to walk the Way of St. James, you’ve probably stepped up your fitness routine, become an expert on the pros and cons of waterproof shoes, and developed a well-informed opinion about the benefits of wearing a poncho rather than a rain jacket.

What about the mental and spiritual preparation for such a unique experience?

It’s been my good fortune to have so far prepared myself, as well as seven groups of students over the past fifteen years, to walk parts of the Camino. In addition, I’ve walked parts of both the French Way and the Portuguese Way with adults.

Let me guide your group’s preparation, leaving you free to relax and enjoy the journey to and from your pilgrimage. One of the many lasting gifts of the Camino is the group camaraderie which can be developed and enjoyed before you take your first step in Spain.

Let’s talk in person about your group’s interests and priorities. We’ll make a plan that suits your Way. Below are some options, or I can create a custom program to suit the preferences of your group.

The Pilgrim

This session offers your group a cultural understanding of the Way of St. James – its origin, history, and traditions. This information would also be helpful to groups just beginning to think about making the pilgrimage, as it will include an overview of the many different routes to Santiago.

In addition to giving your group a cultural introduction to the Way of St. James, I will provide a packing list (untied to retailers) appropriate for the length and season of your trip; explain the process for getting your credentials and the Compostela; and address any additional questions your group might have about further preparation for the Camino.

$50/person.

The Wayfarer

Add any number of follow-up sessions to build group camaraderie and expand your mental preparation for the amazing adventure you’re planning. These sessions will be tailored to your preferences and ideas. I can lead discussion of any number of topics that will provide interesting and entertaining mental preparation.

A few ideas: Saints & Relics, The History of Pilgrimage, Architecture on the Camino, Regions of Spain, Fiction and Non-fiction about the Camino.

$40/person/session.

The Saint

After your Camino, I would love to guide your group in a session designed to help you process the experience.
